Measurement setup
The column occupies the route from the incoming retained edge toward the inside of the tray. Enter its depth in that direction and its length along the route. The four-fold bypass clears the far side by the entered clearance, then returns to the original direction and retained edge. Fold setbacks are included on both ends of the bypass plateau. The column height in the preview is illustrative; the routing calculation uses its plan footprint.
Geometry and cut equations
D = column depth + clearance; S = (D + W × (1 − cos θ)) / sin θ; Q = S × cos θ − W × sin θ; plateau = obstacle length + 2 × (clearance + W × tan(θ / 2)).
For each closing joint, d = span × tan(|α| / 2), and the full V opening is 2d. Span is tray width for horizontal cuts and wall height for vertical cuts. Downward vertical joints open the side-wall slit instead; their formed edge gap is 2H × sin(|α| / 2).
Every segment must contain its adjacent closing-notch setbacks plus a 10 mm margin. Impossible or overlapping layouts are rejected.
Default numerical example
W = 200 mm · H = 50 mm · Straight stock length = 2521.32 mm. Stock station: 350.00 mm / 927.82 mm / 1593.50 mm / 2171.32 mm. θ: 45.00° / -45.00° / -45.00° / 45.00°.
Inspect all four stages
- Inspect the uncut straight channel.
- Mark every fold axis and its side-wall or base cut. Green lines show retained fold connections.
- Remove amber closing wedges. Opening joints are side-wall slits. Keep the indicated fold connections.
- Fold about every retained axis. Purple covers identify opening regions; they do not specify hardware.
Scope and method identity
This is a separately implemented TrayNeo method for the numbered entry. Exact correspondence with the reference product remains under review.
Ideal zero-radius geometry. Cut envelopes, retained folds and opening covers are shown explicitly; kerf, rolled lips, thickness allowances, cable clearance, springback and connection hardware are not specified.
