Measurement setup
Enter the actual straight middle length D along the tray centerline between the two 45° miter intersections. This is distinct from the inner or outer edge diagonal. Lead and tail use the retained outer-edge convention. Two 45° turns produce a horizontal 90° exit.
Geometry and cut equations
P = D + W × tan(22.5°); each full V = 2W × tan(22.5°); stock = lead + P + tail. D is measured on the centerline, while P is measured along the retained outer edge.
For each closing joint, d = span × tan(|α| / 2), and the full V opening is 2d. Span is tray width for horizontal cuts and wall height for vertical cuts. Downward vertical joints open the side-wall slit instead; their formed edge gap is 2H × sin(|α| / 2).
Every segment must contain its adjacent closing-notch setbacks plus a 10 mm margin. Impossible or overlapping layouts are rejected.
Default numerical example
W = 200 mm · H = 50 mm · Straight stock length = 1132.84 mm. Stock station: 350.00 mm / 782.84 mm. θ: 45.00° / 45.00°.
Inspect all four stages
- Inspect the uncut straight channel.
- Mark every fold axis and its side-wall or base cut. Green lines show retained fold connections.
- Remove amber closing wedges. Opening joints are side-wall slits. Keep the indicated fold connections.
- Fold about every retained axis. Purple covers identify opening regions; they do not specify hardware.
Scope and method identity
This is a separately implemented TrayNeo method for the numbered entry. Exact correspondence with the reference product remains under review.
Ideal zero-radius geometry. Cut envelopes, retained folds and opening covers are shown explicitly; kerf, rolled lips, thickness allowances, cable clearance, springback and connection hardware are not specified.
